Thames Ultra Tri

Trawling through online event pages looking for a challenging triathalon a friend of mine recently exclaimed 'I don't like the look of these events, they are too competitive!'. Many people may say - 'well surely that's the point', but, I guess it depends on what you want to achieve. I began to think that perhaps there's a need here for a challenging event in which participants don't swim over each other - like an #Ironman but less competitive.

An event that is super tough, you'll know you did it, yet promoted team work and the kind of bonding you get when #cycling, #swimming, and #running long distances with people you only just met. Enter; The Thames Ultra Triathlon.

Set along the beautiful River #Thames our team will be undertaking a 2.4-mile (3.86 km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25 km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20 km) run, as a team. Along the way we hope to raise awareness of this wonderful resource and also highlight what a fragile ecosystem these water courses are.

This years is a closed event as we test out the routes and if there is sufficient interest we'll open this up to the public in 2121. A great way to complete challenging distances with friends - old and new - whilst doing something positive for the #environment.

We love it!

Intrepid Events love adventure and we lead by example; in summer 2020 we will run, swim and cycle over 150 miles, traveling bridge 2 bridge along three rivers; the Avon, Kennet, and Thames. We are doing it for the environment, we are doing it for the adventure, we are doing it because we love it!

Along the way we'll be inviting you to join us; getting schools and business involved in adventure along these ancient and amazing aquatic waterways whilst exploring ways of making them safer, cleaner and more accessible.
